EVENT: Engage Our Energy Efficient Future

On Monday, November 21st, from 10am-2pm Southern California Edison (SCE) and Green Campus partnered up together to teach students about energy efficiency. To rally the students SCE and Green Campus handed out bookmarks on Monday November 14th, and told students to bring the bookmarks back to receive a reusable water bottle or coffee mug.

In the San Manuel Student Union, Coyote Radio played catchy tunes, while students participated in the scavenger hunt and took surveys with (SCE) and Green Campus. To reward students who participated, Green Campus had pizza and raffled off Starbucks gift cards to students. SCE and Green Campus had a great turn out, getting almost 300 students to the booth to learn more about energy efficiency.

Partnering with SCE was a great success in outreaching to students about energy saving CFL’s, how to recycle refrigerators and different programs that SCE offers to its customers. Students were able to learn if they qualified for money saving programs that SCE currently offers, and learned how to apply to these programs. Students were happy to have someone at CSUSB to ask questions to SCE that they otherwise may have never had answered.

Green Campus is excited to have done this event, and is looking forward to the next event with SCE in the future!

Engage Our Energy Efficient Future

The Green Campus team is excited to announce that on Thursday, November 21, 2011, Southern California Edison will be coming to our campus! The team has been working closely with Edison for the past month to create a fun event for the students on our campus called “Engage our Energy Future”. This includes having Coyote Radio present, a scavenger hunt, and raffles throughout the time they are on campus.

The purpose of this event is for our energy company to create a bond with the students on campus who will soon graduate and become customers of Southern California Edison. The company would also like to share information from their programs to students, as well as get an idea of what students are doing in their daily lives to become more energy efficient.

Green Campus and Southern California Edison will also be having a pre-event on November 14th to promote the main event. Green Campus is very excited for the opportunity to host Southern California Edison at CSUSB and outreach to  the campus community. Make sure to look for a giant globe walking across campus!
